what species is this

i was wondering if anyone knew what species this is? Saw it at the San Diego zoo but cantg remember which kind it is....

looks like an axanthic neotropical rattler
Crotalus durissus culminatus is the latin name i think

That indeed is correct. That particular specimen is the xanthic phase (where the yellow pigments become predominent). They've got a real impressive exhibit. We have a very large girl who keeps us on our toes.

Ok. Pretty good. Black racers move 4 mph. i ment which viper has the biggest head so i messed up with that. But, you're right, anyway. the viper with the biggest head is gaboon viper. cobras CAN hear. A black mamba can rear up 5 feet in the air. so u got that wrong. the fastest snake again, black mamba. so, umm. pretty good.

From just lookin at it, it looks like a neotropical rattlesnake...their found in south america...pretty good pic...from the bak side
