OK, I'm a bit paranoid I guess! WHAT???????
I talked to 2 people from either Cleveland and Columbus that were asked to sell at the show. And said just about what you did.
Maybe the guy is really trying to be breaking ground in Ohio. I wish him well. I never thought the show itself was some type of setup. Just prone to extreme scrutiny, since Ohio is such a tough state with herp laws. Unless you sell 1" turtles at the mall, then it seems no one cares.
I know nothing about hots in Ohio, or hot laws. I'd like to see the show as a HUGE success. To show it can be done.
But, get a real domain, be up front with sponsors, maybe a bit more lead time in planning. All I hear from people is "what up with the hot show?" One, I do not do hots, and never have. Just my opinion, I think a show like this should have been planned a year in advanced. Make sure it is all up and up. And if I did it, I'd invite ODNR. Make it ultra legit. Give them no where to find or "create" issues so the media to run with after the show is over.
Why pick on the media? My friend was interviewed about the dangerous BCI in front of his store. News man asked if the boa in the news that was stolen from a guys house was able to kill a man? As my friend explained they eat mice and rats and pose no real danger at smaller sizes but always use common sense and collect proper information on handling anything, the audio was muted, and a voice over about the super deadly 2' BCI was on the news, with his store front in the back ground. I'm sure that was good for sales. And the way they kissed his butt to get him to do the spot. SICKENED me.
1 more thing
I wish the show well. We just do not need anymore bad press in Ohio, or anywhere. Or my grandkids with have to get $100 permits for a toad, and annual cage inspection.
Am I done rambling? Maybe for now.
Again, this is just my opinion.
