Anyone know what species of treefrog this is?

birdznfrogs Aug 15, 2003 09:57 AM

Hello all,
JUst curious if anyone knows what species of treefrog this is? He was found hiding in the shade under a chair, at our motel porch. I was SO excited!!!

I thought maybe a cuban, but I don't think so? Then I also thought a grey, but the face seems too pointy for a grey? What do you think?

Steven

PS: anyone get power outages? I did, I live in Canada from 4:00PM-1:00AM

WOOPS, sorry you have to scroll down a little, to see the pic...

That's a Cuban--I'm almost sure of it.

Anyway, did you find that in the Orlando area with the other one, or in Canada? That would be weird.

Nope,
I just took pix of him, and then released him into a tree, near where I found him.

I love it when people can take ONLY a picture and leave the creature alone to live it's live as intended. Why do some people think they need to "OWN" everything that lands on (or near) their homes. Why do some people feel so compelled to keep a wild creature "till it feeds" or "to look at (or study) for a couple of days" when it would be so much better off not being touched at all. Every day I try to teach my children (and remember myself) that as cute as something may be, and as much as we want to believe that it needs us ... it doesn't, so leave it alone. Sorry, it's late and I'm tired, but thanks Birdznfrogs for leaving the frogs behind, taking only pictures.

The reason I asked is because Cuban treefrogs do not belong in Florida and are, basically, eating our natives. So, in that case, I think it's best to take the Cuban out of that environment.

It's a really bad problem, too. Lately, Cubans are all I can find
