Chesapeake Bay VA easterns

MikeMurphy May 17, 2007 11:57 AM

Hello, a few months ago I posted asking for names of breeders who breed Chesapeake Bay VA easterns and got some responses. I can't find that post. But there was one on there that had them for $50 each. I remember going to his web site but I can't find it for the life of me now. Any ideas? Thanks.

Not necessarily Chesapeake Bay, but Chesapeake, VA there are several.

Brad McKown (stretchx@webtv.net), myself (snakeman1@cox.net) and I believe Tony Dongarra had some (don't remember his email but look for a Tony D post.

I am also about to have some captive bred Coinjock NC locality hatchlings. That's about an hour or so south of Chesapeake.

I have mainland Currituck's. Technically the same local as Chesapeake VA. Also have Northampton County VA and Howie of Strikers has a line from Virginia Beach. Pic is of an in situ Northampton.

That's a nice looking snake. I live in Virginia, I kind of like the idea of a Virginia snake. What is their temperament like?

Very pretty snakes. I love Virginia Kings - my favorite snakes. I've found them with broad chains, and narrow chains, with white chains, and yellow chains. Here's my Newport News, Virginia local snake

Do you live in the area? I'm in Yorktown. I've seen about 7 DOR kings in the coounty, and finally caught one in my own yard last year? I think, and then sent it off to Peter Jolles.

Tom,

I gave that snake to Brad Bauserman. She was extremely aggressive and never tamed down - but she was a very healthy animal and fed very well.

Please let me or Brad know if you ever find a male in the same area.

Thanks,

Never tamed down? Wow. Interesting. Trust me....I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for more. I went looking yesterday actually. York county is just too clean. No AC anywhere AND plenty of land development to boot since lots here go for around 200k-300k ! I hate to see it happen.

There are spots in Newport News and Hampton where Kings are simply abundant. I've flipped several at a time in Hampton, and in Newport News actually caught three large snake in my yard in one day. In fact, other than water snakes, the king was the only large snake I ever found in my yard.

I remember MR HUGHES finding an amazing looking chain there, it looked as if it were almost a outer banks look-a-like. It was a 3' female that looked as if it just ate a baby turtle. Sadly, the lump turned out to be a tumor and it didnt survive. I just wish we had taken some pics of it, maybe someone here can ask Joey if he got a picture, lol.Jeff
