what kind of snake is this?

I found this snake in my yard in North Florida. From some research I thought it may be a Midland Water Snake since we live on the water, but it looks slightly different from the pictures I found. It's also not supposed to be in Florida other than the Panhandle. Can someone identify this please?

That's a good picture! Its definitely a water snake. Looks like Nerodia fasciata to me - southern water snake, florida water snake, whatever. But to me a nerodia is a nerodia. I'm sure someone on here can give you an exact answer. Beware if you decide to handle it (if you don't know already) - they do not enjoy human hands and will bite and musk. The musk is much worse than the bite!
