Fresh shed pics of new male

KenCasstevens May 17, 2007 03:00 PM

This is the male from the pair I recently got from Michelle. I posted some pics of them then, but he has since shed, and his orange really exploded. I love his head pattern too.

Very nice Ken! He does have some nice orange.... and love those thin bands. His neck pattern looks just like the one on my male, Sir.

Thanks Aubrey. I believe that's a snake I almost bought. Did you purchase him from East Coast Colubrids? He's looks great.

Ken,

Very nice animal! I especially like the very narrow banding with the reduced black borders...thanks for the photo!

Later,
Jim.

Some of my 2006 animals...female is the top photo and the male is next...

I appreciate the compliments Jim. Those two are sharp. Are they siblings?
Ken

CSRAJim May 18, 2007 12:02 PM

Ken,

No, they are both unrelated 2006 animals with different sets of parents from Vivid (thanks Tim)...

I'll try and send you photos later today via email...

Later,
Jim.

the other morning i was cleaning the snakes and i look Roger out and he seemed lighter in color, it was very interesting, almost an orange undertone that might be comming through. plus he isnt so shy around me anymore when eating, he will snatch the food right off the tongs now

He will probaly get some orange under tones, his mother has them. I am glad to hear he is adjusting so well. I used to just put him on paper towel and feed him no wiggling from tongs, but you know for some of my problem feeders I may start trying that. I have heard tongs work well for teasing them. What kind of tongs do you use? Ones especially for snakes?

i have always used tongs, i just hold the rodent in front of the snake and they usually latch right on, and i dont really wiggle too much, if they dont seem interested right away i just lay it on the floor of the tub and they find it eventually. i bought mine from regal reptiles, but i think you couldnt find a good pair at any fishing/tackle shop. i think mine are ment for medical/surgery stuff.
have a good one

Very nice orange on bright peachy-orange. If he looses the majority of what little black he has, and keeps that bright color, he's really going to be something to see as an adult with those razor thin bands.

Thanks Mike. I think he'll definately be a stunner as an adult. The only thing that sucks when they look that good as a baby is the long wait to breed them. Thanks for the compliment.
Ken

mexicanamak May 19, 2007 01:03 PM

...we do get to watch them develop every step of the way as they sometimes get better and better. The breeding part is the icing on our cake!
