To get away from the practical joking a little bit to something a little more serious. I remember a night that John H. was collecting out west of Langtry. I knew he liked it out there and there were alot of snakes in that direction. Knowing he was out there we stayed a little closer to Langtry. After not hearing from him for a while I got a little concerned. He usually could not stay out long without a candy fix or some coffee. Well after a while he showed up with a nice blairs. Both of his arms were bunged up and he was complaining of pain in both arms. If I remember correctly he found the snake up 8 - 10 feet on the red cut. He climbed up to get it and ended up pulling a large rock down on himself which landed on both arms. He held onto the snake but evidently had one hell of a time extricating himself from under the rock and not losing the snake. Really made us all more aware of how dangerous being out in that country can be by ourselves. I am not sure but, I think John knows that if we had not seen him for much longer we would have gone looking for him. Case in point, let others know where and when you are out there. It really could save you some grief. Much like the story John was telling of the night he ran off the road on the River Road. We both knew each other was out there and were able to look out for each other.
