Dummies and fakes

shaky May 17, 2007 06:21 PM

Most of us have had a prank or two pulled on us while hunting West Texas: ropes, rubber snakes, sausages, rock lines, you name it.
Here's my question:
Who has actually hit paydirt on the same night that someone is laying out alterna dummies?

I have.

Also, one night I put out a bogus alterna on the shoulder in the flats W. of Osman. Later that night Eric T thanked me for putting it out. It seems that he had slowed down for it and found the real thing, which he said he probably wouldn't have seen had ne not slowed down.

I did. We were walking the big cut 3 miles west of Sanderson, and this guy knew my favorite part of the cut so he put the rope where he knew I'd find it.

We started walking at about 9:45 pm and by 10:15PM I had an emoryi, a rope a dope alterna, and a pretty nice alterna morph female. I put each in a bag and then met up with the prankster. He's got a big smile and he says "whatcha find?" I says "I found an emoryi and an alterna" He says "lemme see!". First I showed him the emoryi, then I reached for the rope-a-dope alterna. When he saw that I found his lame snake he died laughing like he was one up. I said "wrong bag" and showed him the alterna morph. Now he was crying.
