Hey Tom!

RavenSkyfire May 17, 2007 09:57 PM

Finally got batteries for my camera again so I thought I would post a recent picture of Damien for ya! I measured him not to long ago and he was somewhere about 22 to 24 inches long. Naturally he wouldn't stay still for the process so i could be a bit off.

Thank you! That makes me feel pretty good considering that I haven't been keeping snakes for very long.

I think I may have kept him a bit too warm for a little while there. Work got kinda crazy for a couple of weeks and none of the snakes got handled except for feeding time. I was putting in alot of overtime(made for nice paychecks though!!). I noticed one day that the thermometer showed like 87.9 or something like that. I drop the temp a bit. The next day I noticed that a small patch of scales on his side looked kinda flaky. But then again, he's due to shed any time now so that may be it also. I'll keep an eye on it and if it doesn't fix itself when he sheds, you'll probably be getting one of those "HELP!!" emails!! LOL

Anyways, here's another picture of Damien. Normally he lets go of my hand but this time I think he needed a bit of support. And he normally eats on the lid to his bowl. He doesn't mess around when it comes to dinner time. I hold the mouse in front of him for a second and he gets to business. The cornsnakes usually take their sweet time so they eat in covered containers.

Since I mentioned the cornsnakes, I thought I might as well show them too (ther're not Kings but they are pretty cool to!)

The MBK is nice too - but I like that motley corn, and the Okeetee is nice too

My little brother has a 2006 Okeetee that popped female at the show but now probes males (I don't have a high opinion of popping) - I bought a 2006 Okeetee as well, bought male intended as mate for my little brothers, but when his probed male - the male I bought ended up staying mine and I don't regret it.

Mine eats right away but not from my hand. My little brothers Okeetee eats from his hand.

Okeetee are my favorite, but that motley corn of yours is a real nice looker too. Did Tom produce it?

I don't know who bred the Corns. I got them from my local 'better than most but still not the best' pet store. I got them in november about a week before Thanksgiving (they were my first snakes). The color on the Motley has gotten more rich over the past couple of monthes, I can't wait for him to be full grown. The Corns aren't quite as calm as Damien was so whoever bred them never handled them much. They are getting much better about being handled (Nibbles earned his name!lol).

Thank you for the compliments on my snakes!

How long ago did you get your MBK? Am I right remembering that you posted a picture of him a while back? If so he's put on some good size. That Motley Corn is a screamer! Beautiful!

I got Damien on Jan 5th. He was my birthday present to myself. He just the most awesome snake! Only time he has ever rattled his tail at me is when he's eating. I don't like to be messed with when I'm eating either so I totally understand.

Here's a pc of Damien the very first day that I got him. Actually this picture was taken at my work (I work in a medical billing office).

The cup bottom he is next to is your typical paper cup bottom that you would find near a water cooler.

Thank you all for the compliments on my snakes. It's nice to know that I am doing something right!

Hello Tom and all,

A while ago, there was a poster here that advertised walking canes that were carved with snakes on them. I seem to recall (perhaps mistakenly) that it was Tom that sold them.

I ask for a reason. I recently became a GrandPa. So humorously, I want to get a cane to show my new status as an 'elder'. I would love a carved cane showing my prize, a Yellow Anaconda, Ducky is his name.

If anyone knows the person that used to advertise this walking sticks / canes, please reply :^)

I just measured the female '06 MBK I got from NewAgeReptile - and she's at 22.5 inches now. About the same as yours.

I'm moving mine onto hoppers as soon as I'm out of fuzzies - she's definitely ready for hoppers. I think my '06 Okeetee is ready for hoppers as well.
