Chick mash or crushed good quality dog kibble. Personally, the chick mash is far less of a hasle since you don't have to crush it, but both are high in calcium and protein. What I do is I cover the small container that I keep my superworm in with the their food, which also acts as a subtrate, and spray it down really well once a day so they can get all the moisture that they need, or you can provide them with a pieces of fruits like slices of apple for moisture. In addition, I also supplement the food I feed the superworm with calcium powder, so my gecko will get some also.
Dog foods are not god! I can express this enough, it contains steroids that are usualy intended for growth this may be in a small dose but you have a small animal.
Nothing beats good old veggies!
I just suft through my mealies and put them in a shoe box
( sterilite brand)and then I toss a mix of veggies in it from leafy greens to squash and carrots.
I ment dog foods are not good*
Why is there not a EDIT feature?
I was wondering because I keep my mealies in the fridge and I know the pet store I get them from doesnt gut load. so I wanted something that i could just toss in there and feed them with every couple of days or before I feed them. Will fruit alone be enough? Is cricket feed okay. will it hurt my gecko if he eats it?

It's a tough thing to gut load mealies. A good wawy to do it is to take them out once a week and let them warm up and eat, cause they don't really eat when they're cold. I usually just use a small critter keeper container and throw about 40 or 50 in at a time, and sprinkle fish food on top, along with some gut-load cubes for moisture. I also use carrots or left over veggies from dinner. It is a bit more of a hassle, but it's worth it, and I can't think of a better way to get around it. Or, I guess you could just take them out all at once and put them in a plastic shoebox and place them in the fridge that way with your gutload of choice and then just take them out every so often and then pop them back in the fridge.
as far as i know, tropical fish food (not plain water fish food) is great for gut loading pretty much all of your bugs. its 50% protein, crickets love it, although i havent really seen mealworms eat it, but yes, all i do is cut a slice of lettuce (you'll know what i mean if you try slicing a lettuce lol ) dice some cucumber and carrot and put them in a clean tub with the mealies. (its best to use a clean tub to feed them, as if left for a little while, the veg will become old and stagnant and mushy) so makes life a little easier.
hope this helps =)
If you decide on the fish flake use O.S.I. spirulina flake, others arent "that" nutritious for animals like this, at least not as much as veggies.
But again use O.S.I. or other brands of "SPIRULINA."
