New Gray Band

Hi, I am new to the board though not new to this site.
I purchased and received a 2006 Blair's phase last week. He did not eat for the breeder when hatched and was cooled. He came out of hibernation and ate f/t. He has yet to eat for me, over a week. Any suggestions?

if he fed on f/t this year, keep trying that. If you have a lizard with which to scent, give that a try. Does it have a good hide spot? if so, put the pink in front of the opeing and leave it. Also might try putting it into a delic cup with the mouse, leave overnight.

Thank you for your suggestion. I am going to try the f/t in hide/deli cup tonight. I thought about the lizard, but I live in West Virginia, not exactly Reptile Central of the US and getting lizards is not that easy. What about scenting with garter snakes if the other option does not work?

Alterna are not snake eaters. nor do they eat amphibians.

I have been told to try "braining" the pinky. Can anyone describe the procedure?

sharp blade, such as a razor or utility knife blade, slit the skull to expose the brain.

Two things that have worked for me:

Green anoles (baby) if you can find them, live. My greyband went crazy for these. Be careful, though, as they can injure the snake. I paid my little brother $1 a piece to catch them for me to keep my snake going until I was able to switch him to pinks using the method below.

Rather than scenting a pinky, de-scent it. Rub some Ivory soap in your hand and roll the pinky around in it to wash off the scent. Then rinse thoroughly. You may have to combine this with the split brain method and leave the mouse outside the snake's hide box. Eventually I was able to stop washing them.

Two days ago I tried the split brain method. Nothing. There is a pet store near me that has anoles. I will try what you suggested with the anole in a day or two. Thanks.
