Slow to start eating...

General_Cha0s May 18, 2007 11:25 PM

well i bred my pastel male to my 3 females during and after cooling, they all went off food on their own even just prior to cooling. well i heated them back up some time ago and none ate, i simply assumed they were gravid and would continue to reject food. One female eventually laid and then began feeding again ravenously, however the other 2 are yet to lay and yet continue to refuse food. down to the question, is it still possible these 2 havent laid yet even after such a large gap with the other one or are they just not pickin back up well? im considering trying some different foods and approaches over the next few weeks but they were great feeders on f/t rats prior to cooling. thx, sry for long post.

Did you observe any ovulations or other signs that they are gravid? That would obviously be your best guide. They don't eat when they are gravid, so it's actually a good sign. But are they losing or gaining weight? As far as gaps between laying, it all depends on the female when she lays. My first clutch is about to hatch this week, but I have 3 other clutches that haven't even been laid yet. There's going to be a 2 month gap between my first and second clutches hatching. Some go early. Some go late. Keep an eye on your snakes. That way it's a lot easier to know what's actually happening with them and why they're behaving a certain way. Provides much more peace of mind, also.
