What would a Racer of the size pictured below need for a tank? Like how many gallons. I know these do not make great pets, but I was wondering how much room they need. thanks!

Hey man, Whats up. I can help ya with that. I have racers and coachwhips. You would be surprised, he does not need to large of a cage. 40 gallon will be fine for him. And to tame him just wear gloves and hold him often. Once they see you will not hurt them they will stop biting and will calm down and start eating for ya. If you have any more questions email me at wchuntsman@msn.com. Have fun with your racer man. WILLIAM H. AND THE GREEN PINE MUSEUM.

If you want to eliminate some of the stress of captivity, cover three sides of the aquarium with either a background scene or just black paper. That will help reduce pacing and striking the glass.

I have my wild caught 4 foot black racer in a 75 gallon tank and she is doing fine. She adjusted pretty quickly and is now taking frozen/thawed mice right out of my hand. She's not to keen on handling yet but I haven't tried to work with her on that much.
