Shedding Scales - somethings not right..

byron.d May 20, 2007 12:38 PM

Hey gang. I have two '06 sibling blizzard Cal's that recently shed and both of them have shed off patches of scales, leaving the skin exposed.

I've never seen this and would like to know what you guys think..??

I'll try to get a photo later, but I dont know if it'll help. It just looks like small patches of skin where the scales were. No infection, bleeding, or swelling. The sheds came off pretty intact and clean.
I'm wondering if it could be genetic... They're small but otherwise very healthy..

Thanks for any input.

Well, being a blizzard, it's not hard pressed to think that this snake is genetically susceptable to skin problems. If the snake is otherwise doing fine, I would just monitor the situation. If it gets worse with the next shed, then contact your vet.
