How to prob

black_wolf May 20, 2007 01:13 PM

Is probing Spotted pythons any different than corn snakes, or are they all pretty much the same? Males are deep and squishy while females are shallow and harder right? The reason I ask in I wanna get the hang of probing because I'm thinking about breeding mine next year and wanna be able to say when gender it most likely is. I can't seem to get popping to work.

Do not attempt to pop a snake as large as yours. You can't do it and will hurt him/her if you try hard enough. Popping only works with very small hatchlings.

Probing does work the same way as with corns, but I don't know the exact scale counts for each sex.

I hate popping. I would say that probing is likely 10-12 for a male and 3-4 scales for a female.
