Egg Success!

FireDrake May 20, 2007 04:39 PM

After seeming weeks of waiting... I got my Bairds eggs! Havent counted them yet, but they look good! Mom and dad are Hwy 277, two very pretty snakes, I cant wait for the babies to hatch!

Yay!

Awesome! Well done. It doesn't get any better than looking in a nest box to see a lot of chalky white!

Just six good ones... no slugs. But this is both parents first time around. Now the even longer wait begins!

From what I know about bairdi, six isn't bad, old or young.

Really? Wow, I expected more....I guess I am used to corn snakes... a corn her size could have laid 22 without blinking!

Thanks

Yeah, I think the record for a Bairdi is a little over a dozen eggs. My female Mexican Baird's had 11 in her this year, but it's quite possible they're a different subspecies from the Texas animals, although no one has tried to discern that - to my knowledge.
