Had a nice visit today from....

rainbowsrus May 20, 2007 06:36 PM

Jess (Medyssa) we talked herps for quite some time and she got to check out most of my snakes. It's always fun to share them with somebody who can appreciate the variety involved and the difficulty in accumulating a collection of this size and quality.

She pretty much got the grand tour and saw all but those in Quarantine.

The main purpose of her visit was to drop of two little gems in the rough. Briar Rose and Prince Charming, I already decided to rename them Ziggy and Zoe.

Of course I had to take a few pics......

Ziggy, he's a little guy weighing in at only 17 grams.
(Hey Jess, I remember you said two died, was another one tiny like Ziggy - formerly known as Prince Charming??)

And Zoe, still tiny since she's a newborn, only 4 days old but she weighs in at a hefty 25 grams:

and a couple pics of both together:

Hey Dave,
No the two that were born but were dead by the time I found the babies seemed to be about 23 grams, but one still had a little yolk left. Most of the babies were between 21 and 25. They look great in those pictures. An hour and 45 minutes was how long I was there. Then I got to show off the rest of the babies to my buddy and Evan something from San Jose (breeds BPs) and some people on the street in front of EBV.
Also, Kanga is a boy, I need to find a new name for him, I am thinking Buzz (Lightyear)so the real stats of the litter are 7.7
Anyway I had a great time talking snakes and I am still really thrilled that you got Zoe and Ziggy. Enjoy!

Hey, your collection is "realer" than mine (by numbers and variety)! Think your gods (especially Odin) would get along with mine (Loki)?

Perhaps! but Odin is a big boy (and a bit fat . . .)

I was refering to Daves collection of course, i only have 5 snakes QQ.

Although i need to start spending money on snake cages instead of buying new snakes!

I am in awe of Dave's collection, and just so you know, pictures do no justice at all to ANY of his snakes. The babies he got from me pale in comparison to most of his holdbacks and others.
By the way...Genevieve....AWESOME!!!! She is just unreal its not even funny. I even got to hold her!
I feel like I met a celebrity or something.
At least Dave gives me something to attain to. Slowly but surely I am working on it.

Thank you Jess, Those new babies will have their time to shine, right now they are newborns and still have that newborn coloring. Once they shed a few times, then the true colors will begin to show. AND, they were not acquired for color but for pattern. Even if they are not the highest color, if the striping is heritable, I will simply start crossing them with high color animals to create higher colored stripe babies. Save back some of those to breed back together and voila, very high colored stripe babies!!

Genevieve is a one of a kind jewel, she is the celebrity.

It was fun to hear about your visit with Jess and see new shots of the famous newborns! The two Z's are quite exceptional!
