More copperhead fun

SnakesAndStuff May 20, 2007 10:33 PM

There is a copperhead (or at least part of one) plainly visible in this photo, see if you can find it. The snake was not disturbed prior to the photo, and you can see I had to dig some to find it as it was... This snake was completely hidden when I came up on it. I've already lucked into finding 2 out in the open this year while radio tracking this individual, but who knows how many I've walked over/stepped on in the process??? The second photo is the hillside this snake was on, and as you can tell they could be literally anywhere.

boy oh boy, I think i see just the tip of snout and top of head near the plant, is that it? I j/ wait til they cross roads in evening-- much easier

If this isn't it
consider me bit.

This is the first place I thought it was with my naked eye. I then saved the pic & zoomed in but it didn't help me any. That rascal is well camouflaged.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think I see a tail... If I'm right, that's probably enough info to confirm it.

If you cut the pic in 4 squares and focus on the top left square, the snake is right below where the sunlight and small cluster of leaves come together in the right side of the "square",lol. I think I see his body. I don't know how to draw a red circle around the spot, sorry for the ridiculous description.

Nope,, all of you are wrong.
It's right in the middle of the picture.

I think I see some of his body in the lower right of the pic. I think that may be him poking out from between 3 leaves...

You can see part of the back and a few partial crossbands. These things blend in very well.

Cool stuff! I am radio tracking western fox snakes and it reminds me a lot of what I go through every day; you learn to train your eye for certain things.

Heh, while I was tryin' to pin a leaf's head down I got tagged from the side.

Maybe there's a good reason I haven't had time to head out into the woods yet this year.

Thanks!
