off with their heads

choppy May 21, 2007 07:40 AM

Do you realy need need to take the heads off Morio Zoophobas before feeding them to Chams
I did not ,but my son took some fishing and they gave him a nasty bite
If you do remove the head how do you do it ? seems a bit drastic ,but then do not want them biting Cham

hey, either cut the head off,or crush the head with something..you just don't want it to be able to move its jaw to give the bite..cutting or crushing is the best way..hope this helps

I've never done this and have fed hundreds of Zoophobas to dozens of chams over the years. If you disable the worm too much it won't move around and attract the cham's attention. They don't eat dead prey. If I need to hand feed a sick or weak cham I'll crush the head, but a healthy cham's bite usually crushes the worm pretty quickly. Watch your cham shoot at them. Most shoot at the head to avoid a bite. If you do see a possible bite on a cham's lip, you can put a bit of Betadine or triple antibiotic ointment on it.

Many thanks for your replies ,so as long as feeding healthy Cham can leave the heads on ,thats a relief !
