During copulation? This Orangburg, SC pair were locked together for at least 8 hours. When I got up this morning, this is what I found. Neither snake has any external injuries. Thanks, Derek

Seriously, you need to probe the male. I think she ripped of his penis. You should check to see if it is still there. God gave male snakes two penises just for such cituations.

Yes, males have what is called a hemipenis. I think it is used for mating from either side, but I am not an expert. Derek

My response was not to the notion of what equipment the snake comes with but to the assertion that the male in question must surely have lost one side of his hemipenis hence the blood!!!! I have had blood numerous times (sometimes more than in the picture) and have not found the male without half his equipment. I have just never heard/experienced that before. But then I am just a newbie with 40 years experience. I still have yet to see everything!!!!!
