HB 2414 is DEAD

Eby May 21, 2007 12:06 PM

I just got off the phone with the clerk to the Natural Resources Committee. That committee has adjourned for the session and will NOT be referring any additional bills to the Senate floor.

I re-asked the question 3-4 different ways and called the office of the committee chair to confirm.

The answer I kept getting was that HB 2414 and all other bills referred to the Natural Resources Committee that have not already been sent to the floor are DEAD for the session.

Grrrr... now we'll probably have to do this all over again during the next session. It's a victory of sorts, and one we should be proud of.

Off-topic: Daryl, have you ever found lepidus on the Ranch? I haven't (yet) but there's some promising habitat off the back road to Marathon in the Rosillos. Problem is, I think it's inside the Park boundary.

Bill,

I haven't found leps on the ranch -yet. There is lots of promising habitat, but I haven't really spent much time looking.

I've lived here about 3 1/2 years but have only gotten back into herping in the last few months. So far this year, I've probably spent less than 30 hours herping. I'll be spending much more time in the next few weeks. I'm confident I will find one soon.

That to bad the wording you worked so hard for didn't get into law.

It's still a great victory. If not for everyone's efforts, it would have passed into law without the exclusion. As it stands, our rights have been preserved. Perhaps more importantly, we're much better organized for future legislative action.
