Eating in the rain on River Road

Saddleman May 21, 2007 05:23 PM

It did come a toad strangler in Brewster and Presidio Co. last night, but this garter snake is taking advantage of a misfortunate meeting of this toad and a tire. It never got above 61 air temp and 68 ground temp and rained most of the night. We saw 3 other snakes, 1 suboc with a meal in it, 1 night snake and 1 mystery snake. It has rained several times since we got here Thur. and night time temps have been low, needless to say, movement has been sporadic. We have seen several snakes, subocs, atrox, scuts, glossy, blacktails, night snakes and a couple of bairds last week on 277. Someone reported a lepidus Sat. night but no alterna or milks.

Haha, frickin' scammers! I love it when you see a garter or hognose takin' the dangerous but easy route! Great pic!
