tank size, too big?

topher03 May 21, 2007 06:58 PM

my ball python is currently in a 10 gallon tank. he is around 2 feet big now and i want to make a new environment for him, that will suit him for when he is full grown. i have the room to make a fairly large tank, and i was wonding if the bigger the tank the better for him, or worse. i am thinking of making it 5x2x2, but i don't know if it will be to big for him, or is there no such thing as a to big of tank.

5X2X2 is WAY too big, think more like 1.5x.5x2 or the likes. Too much space, especially after living in a 10 gallon, will stress him out big time.

There is no such thing as too large a tank size, but you have to have hides that fit the snake tightly. This way if they feel like they need to have a smaller area, they can go into the hide.

Also, go with ceramic bulb heaters, not too much more expensive and fully dark for the night.
