They were asking $265 each and a pair for like $450 or something.

I got it for a bit cheaper because im good friends with the manager of the reptile department and i buy a lot of snakes/feeders etc there.

I think 7 came in at once and after 3 hours of them being in the store 3 sold, and 2 were on layaway. . .

Sounds like a very decent price, no wonder they sold so quickly. Add to that the ability to pick and choose the one you like in person and duh, easy sale!

Congrats again!!!

My favorite salmon from Summit reptiles?

No, he's also from a salmon x pastel breeding. Don't remember but the salmon may have been a super but the pastel was definately not a salmon so the babies are at best pastel salmons.

Wait, isnt pastel a recessive trait? if its recessive then its a het Pastel at best, if its codom then its a pastel salmon. . .

So mine is either a Salmon het pastel or a pastel salmon or just a salmon . . . . .

Pastel is a polygenic trait, more like a line of clean, reduced black boas.

oh . . ok learn something new every day. I dont quite fully understand how to prove that something is "pastel" other then just labeling it when you see it. . . .

So should i refer to my Salmon as a pastel salmon? or just a salmon? . . . . .

thanks

Animals can look pastel-ish but not neccessarily be from a pastel line or be able to pass the look on to their offspring. The pastel name should only be used when it is from an proven line of pastels.

BRB_Russ May 22, 2007 01:34 PM

well, it is from a pastel line, the snake is a product from a
Super Salmon X Pastel

So if a Super Salmon is bred to a Pastel does it produce all pastel salmons?

or since only 1 parent is pastel is it hit or miss?

I would think that only the young that look real clean like yours and come from a pastel line should be called pastel. But don't quote me on that, I am not really sure if the whole litter could be called pastel since they came from a pastel line or not. That is just my personal opinion.
Good looking little snake by the way, meant to add that in my last post.

rainbowsrus May 22, 2007 01:35 PM

So, if your salmon was bred from a known pastel to a salmon, then it is a pastel salmon!

I don't necessarily buy into the Pastel part, but I do believe they may be a product of a Salmontine or Argentine outcross somewhere down the line. Hence some of the crazy colors and attitude ( this girl was the nastiest of the bunch.......... )

BRB_Russ May 22, 2007 08:07 PM

You got yours from Incredible pets too? im not sure i understand.
