question of snake eggs?

hmj75 May 22, 2007 08:49 AM

I have had 4 clutches already this year but i am noticing that on most of my snake eggs it looks like their lacking in calcium. Is there anything like a calcium supplement or any other remedies so my odds of better looking eggs can hatch. Btw the 4 clutches are 2 cal kings, pueblan, and a creamsicle.

How are you diagnosing that?

Regular calcium (no phosphorus) supplement sold for dusting crickets and veggies for lizards and torts works well. Just dust the back end of a thawed rodent before feeding. Supplementing breeding females is fine, but may not be necessary if the snakes are well fed on healthy rodents.

But I have to ask again, why do you think the eggs are low on calcium?

Well it can be 2 things. From the 4 snakes 3 of them are first time breeders and from what i been reading that could be maybe one reason and the 2nd reason is some of them eggs are getting that orange spots on them from what i have read is problems with calcifications..
