Well i've been feeing him Small Rats although im sure he could take medium if I fed them to him.

I do wonder how much larger he will get. . . I know the CRB's dont get as long as the BRB's . . perhaps jeff can tell me if i can expect to see much more size on him.

He's a great snake, never turned down a meal and allways easy to hang out with, although he likes to get in between the couch cushions. . .

thanks!

Nice snake you got there and is that a microfiber sofa? Great material and very comfy too. Maybe since you put some CRB pics up on the forum Scott will stop all that yapping I caught your salmon on the boa forum and the pastel really cleaned it up and I like. Congrats again and show that salmon sometime too
Bob

BRB_Russ May 22, 2007 10:45 AM

the Sofa is actually Swade. I jacked it from my moms rich boss (you know the guys that chance furnature once a year) so i scored the sofa and a mathing seat with it.

Thanks for the complement on the Salmon, i've wanted one for quite some time now and im itching to pick up a adult one because im having a hard time waiting for her to grow up!

not letting the neighbors see them, some people are fanatical when it comes to snakes, I wouldn't chance it to be honest. Ill informed people sometimes have deep roots from their childhood that the only good snake, is a dead snake, this type of mentality is unfortunately quite common amoung people. Ignorance is sometimes hereditary if you know what I mean.

Especialy when it comes to snakes and even more so in regards to sterotypical Racism.

Yea the last thing i need is people going to the manager trying to get me kicked out or something, this is why snakes only leave and come into my house in snake bags!

But like i said it makes it hard to get good outdoor shots . . .

Rainbow boas look so damn good in natural light!

on the head. Since I live by N.O. it is very common to be asked by someone for money or spare change or better yet rob ya when you go for your wallet. This might be the only place in the U.S. where you can have 3 kids all from different guys (don't even have to know their names) and you get food stamps and a check every month plus free room and board from Section 8 housing. I love my tax dollars hard at work.

Well, you've set yourself a bear trap. If she does "find out" and comes to look, you've documented your intention to not tell her.

It's always better for her to hear about it from you than from someone else!!

that retic forum and stick to the Rainbow and Boa forums lol. Those tigers are absolutely stunning and to see one in person and see the amount of irredescence is just breathtaking. I saw some of the comments on the retic forum about feeding and it is very common to have a 6-9 month tiger at 7 feet or so but I have a friend that breeds them and the ones he keeps and does not plan to breed simply aren't fed as often. For instance he has a 2 year old male that is only 6 feet (maybe a couple inches past) and the girth is nothing, my '05 columbian at 40 inches has more girth this his male. He is not underfed and is very healthy. Feeding time they can be aggressive but simply don't take them out a couple days after feeding and feed in the enclosure to avoid any mishaps and a snake hook is a must but you should have one already and if you don't they are very handy and will teach them the difference from coming out the cage to play or when the cage is opening for feeding time. I watched my fried feed his 12 foot females (2 of them) f/t pigs and their feeding response was nothing special, meaning when the cage opened they knew they were getting fed cuz they could smell it defrosting in the room and was simply controlled by pushing (gently) their head back in with the snake hook and even after the food was in their enclosure they rubbed themselves for several minutes on the prey item instead of striking real hard and fast like you would imagine. A lot of this has to do with they have been eating f/t their whole life and live prey is a total different story, that is prolly where things can go wrong and obviously scars that we can't remove so why do it. Always put the prey item at the tail end I would imagine so no strikes are headed in your direction either I believe. Also his snakes pretty much go straight to swallowing rather than constricting the prey (not heated up real hot though. Sorry this got long but I do plan on picking up a retic in a couple years from my friend for free but I think I would rather get a lavender albino (not for free or maybe both) but the tigers speak for themselves though. Nice chatting with you Russ and take care.
Bob

BRB_Russ May 24, 2007 09:31 AM

My first love is the Rainbow boa i have to say, although i had an itch to get something biger (why i got the guyana and Salmon) but the alure of the Retic is strong but honestly i dont think i could talk my Girlfriend into it. She is like 5'3 and she doesnt like the idea of having something in the house that can potentially one day eat her . . . Hell, she wont even let me have a Hognose because of them being "slightly" venomous!
::sigh:: whats a man to do? But yea that Tiger i was looking at is a real beauty!

On another note i was looking at male anacondas as well, i am intrested in them because i allways read how Rainbow boas and anacondas are so closely related. I'd like to get more specific information in what ways they are similar (strength? semi-aborialness? food? personality? etc etc.

ohh so much digression!
