Brown mexicana got-er-done...

mexicanamak May 22, 2007 04:50 PM

It took these two rookies three visits to make it happen, but eventually this young black female gave in. She apparently couldn't continue resisting the advances of that handsome young brown male. This makes 6 out of 8 virgin females doing what they should be doing this time of year.

2003 black female x 2004 brown male... (minus the porn pics )

Absolutely gorgeous snakes. Congrats on the hook-up.

Thanks Ken. I’m very happy with the performance of all of the young pairs making their first breeding attempts this year. Even if fertility/production is low I’ll be very satisfied knowing that they all have that important first year of breeding experience behind them. It’s nice knowing that the majority of the animals you’ve chosen to keep and raise for 3-4 years for breeding efforts were worth all of the time and effort you put in to get them to this point. If I’m fortunate enough to see good clutches from all of them I’ll feel very lucky indeed.

They are beautiful Mike, next to thayeri they are my second favorite. I hope mine will be of breeding size next year.

Thanks Michelle. This will be my first mex mex clutch and I’m excited they will be from the brown male, he’s such a cool snake. These mex mex rank #2 in numbers in my collection now and they are such an under appreciated member of the group. I’m happy I decided to try a few, they don’t have the flash and eye appeal that something like thayeri has going for it but they more than make up for it in other ways and grow on you quickly. I’m looking forward to my group of granite or speckled animals to mature so I can get them all started in the nest year or two, they will most likely replace several pairs of my thayeri.
