Ani regurged - what's up?

shannons Aug 15, 2003 04:00 PM

She's never done this before. I put her back on a diet of crix a few days ago since she wasn't eating very much (e.g. she'd eat three roaches and then not be itnerested anymore) at each feeding. She's certainly happy - racing around snapping them up, but regurged a bit last night. Maybe she snagged a few right before she went to sleep (she has a UTH but rarely lies near it...she prefers to climb to the tippy top of her branch and hang there at night) or has to get used to eating so much (for her) again? Whatcha think?

double check your temps and be sure shes not eating anything 2 hours before lights out. I would also get rid of the UTH dragons dont need a night heat source unless your house falls below 60-65, if that does happen use a ceramic heat emitter for top heat, dragons cant feel heat like we do on their bellies, and their bellies will burn severly far before they can feel they are being injured.

It could be that she grabbed a few before bedtime. If you feed her of an evening try making it at least 2 hours minimum before you turn the lights out. They need at least that much time to digest. Also, you shouldn't leave left over crickets in the cage with her as it stresses them out. You should only feed enough crickets that they will eat them all within 10 minutes or so, then remove any left overs from the cage. It's also possible that she just over ate as a result of the switch back to crickets. She did love her crickets.
Hope this helps! When do we get to see a pic of her? :-P

Just need to wait for a "photogenic" moment She's getting to be quite a lanky dragon - one of those that gets long before she really fills out - what a tail she has on her!

It must have been too big for the lizard or ate too many.
