I found violets (NOT african violets) growing in my tort pen. I'm pretty sure its 'Viola palmata'.
Research tells me people can use it to make tea or even put it in jellies and jams.
But I just wanted to see what the experts say. Wild violets ok?

seems like I had them listed on an OK to each list but I'll be darned if I can find it to back me up...
I'll keep looking, I keep all kinds of info in a huge three ringed binder with look up tabs but the list I was looking for isn't there?
check on the tortise trust site for links to edible plants I think thats where I found it some time ago.. if I find it I'll link it to ya..
My herd has been eating them for years with no ill effect. None will grow inside their pens because they keep 'em mowed down & I'll feed them a few leaves once in a while when I'm weeding the flower beds. They LOVE the flowers in early spring!
