I just got back from vacation and wanted to post a few pics. First one of my 5 kingfish, then the whole haul from the boat and my 37 pound amberjack. I love fishing!!!!!!!!

I know I am sometimes accused of stirring up (trolling?...whatever) trouble sometimes, but I cant always shut up..

Is it neccessary to keep every fish?

I fish too and keep some, but I want to catch them again in the future, or even the fishes grandchildren..

The oceans will be empty some day...

That middle picture is a gratuitous display of how NOT to fish..

It reminds me of pictures from the turn of the century, with the people who raped the oceans...

This is why the Blue Fin Tuna, Cod..etc.. are becoming endangered.

you really dont know the size of the boat, how many people were there, etc.

party boats haul in huge catches...and yea i would DEFINITELY say those fish weren't just thrown out at the docks whether the people who actually caught them wanted em or not, and if they did toss em, thats a shame and a waste. (i dunno what purpose the sharks could have either but whatever)

as long as ur not tossing TNT into humpack whale pods or machine gunning apex predators every weekend....

non-commercial fishing = insignicant impact on the ocean.

you have a valid concern but lets not make any more of this.
BTW PC's are def better than macs (been reading our posts hehe)

humpbacks and dynamte......now that would be fun actually.....
(sick I know )..

humans really need to cull seals and walruses more often.......and all the dolphins that are accidentally caught should not be tossed they should be kept and used....

I also wish sea gulls would taste good .....what a pain and a waste of birdlife........

And yup .............its a sand shark.

.....sands are ok.........

........they get a little wierd at times if the guts are left in and maybe not enough ice is used on the boat (a habit here in the east with cheap captains).......BBQ sauce can cure anything.......smoking it even? ...(not sure about that one)......

Sand sharks excrete their bile trough their skin. If you prefer to eat bile, be my guest...I'll pass.

Also, read the book COD by Mark Kurlansky, then tell me if you think the cod populations havent been decimated by people over the last 100 years.

I like to fish also. I caught loads of Stripers and Tons of Blue fish last year.

I kept one Striper (pictured) and two very samll taylor Blues.

The rest went back, revived very carefully first, then returned to the ocean so my kids and my kids, kids will be able to enjoy fishing in the future.

Going on a chartered or "party" boat, with the hi-tech. ultra-powerful sonar and yanking dozen's of fish that are usually gaffed to get them onto the boat is not fishing, involves NO skill, and is for the weekend warrior, wanna-be Rambo fisherman.

Even worse are the pathetic trout fishermen that get all Dolled up the second or third week in April. Then go out and "catch their limits" of the little fingerling trout that are basically pets, and are tame from being hand fed at the hatcheries.

Boy they get some "good eatin' fish" out there in the wild, surviving on their nature skills, catching tame fish with their little Power Bait....

party boats usually result in no fish due to captains lack of care and ability.....

charter boats fare the same alot......

I guess you caught that fish using vine and a homemade hook...........so you could really test your abilities....right?? If it makes you feel better I've been fishing 2 more times since then and caught numerous bass and crappie all of which were released.

Good lord that's a big fish in the last pic... Where did you go fishing?

Lets see judging the type of fish and the trees in the back ground plus the Cowboy hat in the 1st pic I would say they left from Port Aranasas Texas.

I fished in Port Aransas (Texas). By the way there were 25 people on the boat and I threw back 10 times more than what I kept. Theres a reason they put size and quantity limits on fish, (none of which we broke). FYI First thing I did when I arrived home was seperate and vacuum seal every fish for my freezer. Trust me NONE will goto waste!!!

Not sure if the above poster knew it was a charter, I wouldn't worry about it. You would love fishing off Port Canaveral Fl we go between 2-4 miles out and do pretty good also. Nice fish and I love me some shark thats some good eaten there. We also do alot of flats fishing around here too.

Haha I didn't even notice the sign on the second pic, I was looking at the fish.

We have a family friend who likes to go fishing for tuna and he always brings us back a couple fish. Delicious!
