Question about defecation...

Jabba954 May 23, 2007 09:11 PM

So my tiger retic seems very content in her cage and all. Temps are good. Humidity is good. She's a great feeder, but very chill when I take her out of the cage. I only have one issue with her. She always waits til she's out of the cage to defecate. Seriously, in the 6-8 weeks I've had her, she's defecated in her cage only twice. She'll cruise around on the couch with me, venture around for a good 20-25 minutes, then take a dump wherever she happens to be (usually on the couch or on my lap). I've varied times between feedings, watched for the signs, and I really don't think I'm frightening her at all.

I'm thinking I'm going to leave her in her cage for the next 2-3 weeks without handling her, just so she does defecate a few times in the cage. She's about 5 feet long, good weight, and I feed her about every 5-6 days.

Get used to it buddy. Retic's do it ALLLLL the time.

I swear she waits for me to take her out... thanks though - part of the question was to see if that was normal - to make sure I wasn't freaking her out or anything.

I feel the same way. They wait for me to take them out OR for me to take them out with no shirt on or in a NICE shirt. Little buggers. Some of them grow out of it one of mine has. The others continue to crap.

Even my 2 week old, Purple Albino retic might be a surprise crapper??? Just got her two days ago and this is the first of many questions...
Thanks for your replies...
