OT - My new ride

run26neys May 24, 2007 03:36 PM

Since we got way OT with age - I decided to share my other passion - motorcycles. I just recently picked up this bike to go along with my wife and I's Harleys. It is new 2006 Big Dog that was on a really good sale - at least that is what I told my wife.

Only one problem - here is what my 6 year old step-daughter told me: "Daddy, the Big Dog motorcycle is Mommy's new bike" I am thankful my wife loves motorcycles and snakes (except the new Spotted Pythons that love to bite...)

What size engine does it have?

117 cubic inches or 1929cc's.

I can't wait till it is broken in.

Nice. I used to work for a shop called Renagade Choppers. We would get some of the big engine bikes in, man are they impressive. Some just seem outta control fast and powerful, like your blow off the back. Big Dog makes some nice looking bikes too.

I have always wanted a true custom bike, but they are getting so hard to insure and even register nowdays. Plus, you can not even buy the parts for wahat the Big Dog, American Ironhorse, and Big Bear Choppers sell for fully assembled and painted. Plus they come with a two year unlimited miles warranty.

ohh that is a nice bike

I didn't know they still made that style of bike...but then again I never did go looking for them. I am too chicken to learn to drive a motorcycle...

AWESOME!!!!! Never owned a motorcycle but one of my brothers is a "Biker", I must say they are a very sterotyped group, all the ones I met are what one would term as "Good People"

HOLY CRAP!! That thing is awesome! Since we live fairly close........ perhaps you could le me ride it? Actually, I'd probably be too scared to ride something with that powerful of an engine. The biggest bike I think I can handle is a 650.

It is really a fairly easy bike to ride. As with a Harley you just have to remember you have to hold up 700 pounds at stop lights, and be careful with the clutch at slow speeds.

We do have to meet someday, as I would love to see your new orange female. If you ever think you can make a show in Wheaton - let me know (next one is June 2nd), as my house is less than 2 miles off I-90. My collection should grow quite a bit this year, and I will probably have to get a rack or two.

Yeah, I'm sure I'd have no problem once I got it going... its the whole having to hold it up at a stop thing that worries me. A couple times I've had to catch a bike or hold it up at slanted roads at stop signs when I wasn't prepared. I'd hate to tip a bike that I can't pick back up... you know... just in case that it ever happened. LOL.

I'll definetely let you know if I make it to one of those shows.... won't be able to make the June 2nd one though.
