critters critters everywhere - had a gtf hitchhiker!

lele Aug 15, 2003 06:12 PM

Hi all, while I was out collecting wild cherry for my cecropia caterpillars I also collected a little green tree frog! Apparently he was on the cherry that I cut. I don't intentionally wild collect any critters but I may just have to keep this little one for awhile - at least long enough for some photo ops and to draw him. I am wondering if I can keep him in with my three anoles or will they try to eat him, or in with my baby house gecko (2" long including tail) or will the frog try to eat her??

I have set up a temporary home for him in a 14" tall shapely vase with a plants, water, stone, bark, a few ph crix and some hydei ff. If I do decide to keep him would a 10 gal on end be appropriate? I have to dust food for my other herps - do I need to with frogs as well? Thanks for any advice.

Hello Lele,
First of all, Please let your little gtf kept be in his own tank. Keeping them in any mixed species tank, is only going to cause trouble.

For a tank, a 10gallon is an appropriate size. You could have him pretty much like a setup of a chameleons(Cause I know you know about chameleons). Lots of foilage, bed-a-beast as a substrate, a small dish of dechlorinated water, and have 3 sides of the tank covered with those backrounds.

Please don't put bark, nor small enough rocks for your froggy to swallow, as both can cause impaction.

Any more questions? Ask away........................
Steven
