Question Regarding Mealworms- Life cycle

nile_keepr May 24, 2007 09:07 PM

Can someone describe for me, not in extreme details or anything, the stages of a mealworms life, and requirements for each stage (ie, food, temp requirements)?

I ask because Im seeing quite a few of the beetle stage in my gecko cage and i THINK im seeing courtship behavior, lol

They are on bed-a-beast and have apples/greens in the cage to deter them from bothering my geckos, which munch them occasionally (especially the med house gecko). Can they breed in this environment or what? How do these things do their business? I offer the mealworm stage for feeding in a small dish, but they escape when I put in large numbers and thusly i have a small population of mealworms breeding in the cage i think, lol

Thanks

(btw, Im sure I could find this with some google searching, but I suck with search engines and i figure this will give it a chance to be viewed by others.)

life cycle with much details: larva, pupa, beetle
yes, they can breed in the cage and the baby larva are going to be really small at first and kinda hard to see.
