Sexing Problem !!

dsreptiel May 25, 2007 06:35 PM

Well I took one of my ( Females ? Male?) Balls to the Vet yesterday as I have had a really confusing time probing her or him , one time it would be deep and one time shallow and I would normally say it was a male but something told me something was not right hear . In my 37 years of working with reptiles I have only seen this happen once before in person . Well after some really confused looks from the Vet. That by the way is a reptile Vet. And is our local Zoo s Vet . And a Ultrasound and some other test He told me what I had already suspected ------- It is A Hermaphrodite !! What are those percentages ? If I can get it relaxed enough I will tri to pop it and get a pic . At the Vet . With a local sedative we were able to pop it and you can clearly see both sets of sex organs . Thanks David of DS Reptile Rescue , Removal & Rehabilitation

a very rare occurence indeed. Does he/she have complete sexual organs? Can it ovulate as well and produce eggs? Definitely an interesting way to combine hets in various projects.

Yes they look to be complete but it is not big enough to breed , It is only 845 gr. And I don’t know its age as it came to me from another rescue as a problem feeder and from what I understand came to them very emaciated and in very bad shape so I really have little background on it . Thanks David

Hah! That's pretty neat, actually. How old's the snake?
