Moving with a lot of snakes....

tsusnakeguy May 25, 2007 06:49 PM

Ok so I am getting a job in Louisiana and I have to move there from Alabama. I have 35 snakes and I was wondering what is the best way to move all of them. What should I put them in? I have large adult boas down to baby rainbow boas and some sand boas and 2 year old corn snakes. Also I will be in a U-Haul with a car on a trailer behind me. I wont be able to have them in the truck cab with me but what is the best way to keep them from getting to hot in either the car or back of the truck? I would appreciate any help, thanks.

put them in snake sacks and put them in a big cooler or a couple of coolers. add cold packs if needed.

I feel your pain. I just moved in December.
If I were moving in warm weather, I'd do what Jimmy suggests.

you will have to do a combination of what they said.......coolers work for small stuff and do not overpack the coolers with too many animals..
big boas is a different story.....bag them or double bag them....

you may have to have someone take them down to new home for you.....a van with AC and heat......nightime for hot days is better..........the sun can kill snakes in a cool car even.......plastic boxes amplifies the rays inside the box.......hot.......

.........styrofoam boxes and ice paks is how I go to shows.......(ice paks are at times frozen bottles of water...disposable)....

........you need help...they can't go in the U-Haul and as you said NO room in cab......
