power out happy story! and questions...

hardcoreherps Aug 15, 2003 07:42 PM

my first clutch of beardie eggs was on day 60 incubating at 84 degrees when the power went out yesterday. a little bit worried about the falling temperature, i used candles to keep the eggs warm. well, in the middle of the night the first egg hatched!
now my question is, what do i do with these little guys? feeding, temps, humidity etc? i have done the research and hatched many species but these are my first beardies. any help would be appreciated.

Basking temp 105-110

Cool end of tank 85

Feed 1/4" crickets, 2-3x a day, as many as they will eat in 15 min. You'll need to order ALOT. Figure at least 30 crix per dragon a day, minimum. Be prepared for them to eat 2x that.

Offer collard, mustard, dandelion as staple greens, food processor works great. Can also add squash, berries, no citrus.

Dust cricket 1x a day with Calcium w/d3

Crickets should be gutloaded 24 hrs prior to feeding (use greens)

Vitamins 2-3x a week

Mist with spray bottle for drinks, or use an eyedropper to drip water on their noses.

Feed well or you may have toe/tail nips.

As they grow, separate by size, about 3-4 per bin.

Watch for any aggressive behavior.

All dragons need a UVB source, either a light, or take them outside for sun.

I'm sure I forgot something, but that'll get you started.
