The Monster Tail Bloodline

boaphile May 26, 2007 11:03 AM

I thought I would show a few pictures of some of the babies that have come from the original Monster Tail Colombian Boa. Here is the original Monster Tail:

Here is one of my favorite babies born in 2005. A Monster Tail Hypo male:

Here is a picture of his mother. She is one of the Monster Tail Hypos produced by the Monster Tail herself:

Here is one of his cousins:

Here is another picture of her from about one year ago:

Here is another cousin born in 2006. This guy is a Jungle Monster Tail Hypo:

Here is the Monster Tail Hypo male from which the "Nova Boas" came:

Here is another cousin born in 2006 as well from our "Nova Boas" line which as already mentioned sprang from the Monster Tail bloodline as well:

And a picture of a couple babies born to the Monster Tail herself. Their father is the Pearlescent male:

A mess of Monsters in the goo:

Oh, something I am really looking forward to is a litter from the Monster Tail Hypo below. This female is gravid in this picture. The color you see is while she is looking ugly compared to normal because she is gravid. She is due July 22nd which is 57 days away but whose counting right? She was bred by a Jungle by the way. I am hoping this is a good litter. So far so good...

Each and every animal on this post was produced by selectively breeding animals that are completely unrelated to each other. These come from a total of seven different litters. Do you see why I like the Monster Tail bloodline so much?

Beautiful animals!! I have a question....Was the original Monster Tail a BCC cross of some sort? What's the history on that animal...

boaphile May 26, 2007 11:50 AM

If the question is does she have any "True Red Tail" Boa blood the answer is no. She was one of 43 or 44 babies in a litter. The father and mother were run of the mill average Colombian Boas. She stuck out like a sore thumb. There were all these normal pet shop baby Boas in this litter and this one that seemed to have an electric tail! After a couple years of pleading with Joel DuBay, who produced her, I was finally able to wrest her from his hands. He offered her to me for $500, sort of embarrassed that he was asking so much for a 3' Colombian Boa. This was back in 1995 or 1996. I had that $500 in his hands so fast it made him feel a lot better about it. That's what it's all about isn't it? Both parties being happy with the deal when it's done. I was very happy but the Monster Tail was not. She has hated me ever since, as do most of her babies and grandbabies for that matter.

Those are hot, I'm going to have to get some of those, but this boa thing is getting way over the top, a friend of mine says I need a "boa intervention!"

boaphile May 26, 2007 02:50 PM

Thanks very much for the kudos Tracy and it doesn't hurt to dream, but, that Boa "intervention" won't work. It has been tried on me several times. I suppose if we became blind we could be persuaded at the point of a gun to give it up but short of that, those who would save me have given up. I suspect you are stuck too. Sorry to give you the bad news. NOT! Thanks again! No post some more pictures of those Pink Panthers! Pantera Rosas!
