Well, I finally got one....

idealreptiles May 26, 2007 12:10 PM

And she's awesome!
Traded a baby female pastel ball python for her and the cage...
He was not sure on her local, but she looks a lot like a few of my buddies jayapura.
Pure white belly, and bright yellow on the sides.... but she has no striping or black.
Let me know what you think?
She ate three mice for me all ready.
I am in the process of getting a vision cage.. I HATE this wood cage....

She's very nice. She looks like a mainland type of some kind. Hard to say. Why are you feeding her so much?

Feeding her too much?
Mice are very small... and don't full up an average three+ foot snake easily.
If she's hungry... then why not? (seriously.. I would like an answer if there is one.. I AM new to GTP's : )<
I know these aren't ball pythons, that can eat very large prey for their size.
I feel three small prey items would be better then one larger rat...
The weird thing is the previous owner said she was a finicky eater...

You didn't indicate the size of the mice. If she's eating three, you may as well go to one rat weanling. I have a few chondros that will eat everyday, all day if you let them. They have rather slow metabolisms and you don't want to overfeed and risk prolapse. I've experienced a prolapse with mine and I'm very careful not to feed too often or too large.

That is good to know...
I didn't think I was "power-feeding." her.
I planned on giving her a few weeks until her next meal.

Every 10-14 should be fine unless she doesn't deficate after 3-4 meals and starts looking big in the rear...
