Next up is the Couch's spadefoot toad, again a lot of varience in color on these guys, some more green, some more black. None of the pics of what I believe is a Hurter's spadefoot came out.They were brown.It is even possible it was a Plain's spadefoot, looking into the Peterson's range maps there appears to be a disjunct population here. I guess if I am gonna do this, I better start flippin some toads over to look at spades and pay attention to bosses and cranial ridges. Also on the toad front was this Gulf coast toad, very common in my area. Then we have the other toad I can't i.d., I think maybe a Texas toad? All were found in Jim Wells/ Live Oak county, Texas. I was mostly a snake guy but am finding joy in seeing things when snakes are not present.
