Golden corn project (update) EGGS!!!

BlueKing May 26, 2007 01:47 PM

Received a phone call from my wife AND: The Golden corn has laid 13 eggs... 8 seem to be fertile. (Better ratio than last year). I bred her to the best looking het male (her son) and he was still a little on the small side, which would explain the 5 infertile eggs. (last year I only had 4 out of 16 - due to the males' smaller size - he was only about 9 months old).
I have also paired up four female hets with their siblings, but the females were all borderline breeding size so when I get home I will be able to palpate to see if any are going to lay eggs this year...
I'm still overseas, but will be home for good on the 28th (of May). So pics are coming soon. This older pic will have to do for now:

I have been wondering about your golden corn. Good to hear she laid a larger clutch this year. Hopefully we see some golden babies in a couple months.

Since you are coming back in a couple days, hopefully you will have plenty of new pics to post in a few weeks

Thanks...
Oh yes, there will be pics - lots of pics. A year without posting new pics was frustrating, lol!

Congrats on the eggs! I'm just blown away everytime I see that pic. It looks like my kids spraypainted the thing! Kevin

A year overseas? Might you be in the service? If so let me take this opportunity to say "Thank You!" for serving, and that Golden Corn is Very Cool. Would love to have one.

...on both counts.

Whether you have concerns about a particular mission or not you have to respect those taking serious risks for our sakes.

Also would love to have one of the gold when they come available and, assuming it proves out simple recessive, incorperate them into many projects.

Stay safe and congrats on a gorgeous, not to mention striking, snake.

Sean.
