Not eating question(Oh no, not another)

Dave763 May 27, 2007 08:52 AM

I have 9 balls in a vision rack, helix thermostat hot spot 95 with a night time drop to 85. Room temp is 80 to 90. Humidity 40% to 50%.
All my balls are eating f/t rats or mice, some eat both.
One female pastel is a very picky eater. I got her Mar. 22nd. She ate a live mouse on Apr. 17th and a fresh killed adult mouse on Apr. 26th. Now it's been a month since her last meal. She stays in her hide all day, comes out at night. I don't handle her or disturb her except to change water. I have offered her live mice, live rat pups, F/T mice and rat pups. I have left F/T food items in her tub over night.
She weighed 446 gr. when I got her. She is down to 425 gr.(I just weighed her last night)
I know they can go a long time without eating, but I'm getting a little worried.
Any suggestions? Should I take her to the vet?

Sorry for the long post.

Dave

I wouldn't worry too much at the moment, I have a male that just ate for the first time in three months and a female that hasn't eaten for nearly six now, But do keep an eye on her weight If she starts losing a lot of weight go see a vet, My female hasn't even lost 50grams and she has passed waste a few times.

Ok thanks. How often should I offer her food? Once a week?

I try once a week, maybe different prey (mice, rats, black, white) and if your offering pre killed dont shove it in their face, just "walk" it past there nose, they soon realise its not going to hang around and snap at the chance next time it passes.
