Did you see the adult male hypo BRB that Tom Crutchfield has advertised on the other boa classifieds? As soon as I saw it it's crescents reminded me of this snake. This is a 2004 male I bought from Tom Davis.

I saw it and at first look I was thinking clown phase but it's been a long time since I'd seen pics. Yeah it looks a lot like this one from Tom Davis. IMO did not look very hypo-ish, could easily be wrong but if I had thought it was a hypo, might have at least made Tom an offer.

LOL, to many snakes to list, last count:
21.29 BRB
19.19 BCI
And those are only the breeders
lots.lots.lots feeder mice and rats

I am glad that I am not the only one who questioned the hypo-ness of this animal. I recently found another one that I questioned too - you can never be too careful.

yeah Dave all I saw was a reduced black dorsal pattern outline which is usually bolder in most brb's but the head is brown so maybe it is a Darren Bell creation then.
Bob
Actually I got it from T. Davis. Tom Crutchfield p.s. I wasn't aware he had sold others.
From what hypomelanistic lineage does it come from do you know the Lockwood Line "aka EBV", Darren Bell, or Tim F.? the "Colling Line" doesn't have any out there yet, it will still be another year if any of his will be available
If it came from T.Davis does he know which line it came from here is a pic of my Lockwood female- pic is about a month old making her 7 months old and has shed since then (6 sheds so far)
thanks for the reply Tom and I like those aneries bci's you had a month ago but I had no money
Bob

I just read the ad and it says that it is unrelated any U.S. stock so then it can't be of Lockwood, Bell, Frazure or Colling lineage but Tom do you know what country it was imported from and when we can expect to see some offspring pics or is it on the DL? thanks for your response ahead of time btw
Bob
This animal was produced from wc parents although he bred them himself. The female didn't come in gravid. It is not the first time hes had them born. He and J. Terry were at my farm and saw the baby I sold earlier and Tom told me that he had an adult. He seemed to have no idea that it was a hypo until I told him. I then aquired it from him. He also said that he had produced a few others in the past. Most of Tom's stock were originally wc. Hope this helps. For more info call me at 239-645-9661.thanks...TC
I believe the parents were from Suriname..TC
I'm not an expert on hypos brb's but ALL that I have seen do not have black eyes. They have eyes like the one I posted. Take a look. TC
Hey Tom,
I am not an expert on Hypos either.. and really not sure if that animal is or not, so I am not going to dispute that. I do, however have several adult and subadult BRB's with eyes that are similar, that are certainly not hypo animals. A few of which are very light orange, but some are the opposite and actually extremely dark (really cool looking w/ the silver tone eyes..). Anyway, point is.. I would not base the Hypo conclusion strictly on the eyes. There are a couple of bloodlines in the US that seem to carry this lighter eyes.. reguardless of scale/skin pigmentation).
There are several 12 -14 month old animals w/ light eyes in my thread above, and I have a 2 yr old and a 3 yr old with silver eyes too, both are shedding at the moment.. but can photograph em later if you like.
The only thing I know for sure, that is an amazing looking male!! Makes me wish I had some disposable $$$ right now

I believe W.B. has a lot of animals that has that silver tone of the eyes which I think is awesome but I do think that the snake in ? has a somewhat reduced melanin on its dorsal pattern but the crescents on the side look normal but either way it is a real nice snake and I mean no disrespect in anyway to Tom by no means
Bob
I understand, but I wasn't basing it strictly on the eyes but a combination of factors. I do know that EVERY proven hypo I've seen had similar eyes. Thats wha I implied about the eyes. TC
fair enough.. whatever it is, I hope it is genetic

Yeah.. Will produces a lot of animals w/ the lighter eyes. Some seem to get darker w/ time, others stay silver well into maturity. Like you, the snake in question is amazing.. there is no doubt that it is special, and it may be hypo.. or may be something else.. anyway it goes, I would love to have it.
The only thing I know for sure, the silver eyes is not a "for sure" tell for hypo.

Tom,
..Welcome to the Rainbow Boa Forum. I was pretty sure that our buddy Tom Davis was the other Tom you were talking about in the ad. He has produced quite a few BRBs that lightened up as they aged. I got the one from him that I posted in this thread because I liked the big light crescents. You mentioned T.Davis having health problems? I never get to talk to him except at the Daytona Expo every year.
Jeff

Jeff I believe I saw that snake from Tom Davis on your website last night. Very nice looking that is for sure
Bob
first, I do not think that snake is a "hypo", second I'd buy yours before I would buy that other one, yours is prettier.
