Leaving for school, hick town, no crix

psychomonkey Aug 15, 2003 09:30 PM

Im leaving for school next wednesday, and I cant get my little guy onto crickets. She refuses anytihng in a dish, greens, worms, pellets... I got two mealworms down her on a frisbee, in hopes i could move them into a bowl, and finally trick her into taking pellets moistened with cranberry juice (which she loves- goes into baby bird mode anytime she smells it) She wond even eat crickets placed in front of her now (two hours after mealworms) Ive tried the bath trick, Ive tried near everything. Ill be in school, so theres no gaurentee Ill be there to recieve crickets. Any suggestions for a quick conversion?
-Ryan
PS: FYI she has only three legs, I adopted her after she got into a fight with one of her siblings, also shes about 6 inches long, maybe seven.

you seem to be so disdainful of. i grew up in a "hick" town and didn't have any problems getting crickets. in fact since all us hicks like to fish crickets where plentyfull as catfish bait. I am sure you will be just fine

No disdain at all. Its actually moving back to the town I grew up in for me. I come from hick roots and am pretty damn proud of it, personally I prefer wheaties and tuna for catfish bait, but thats another story. I knew which people to call, and none of them carry small crickets, Im hoping the owner of one gets back in town tomorrow so I can see if he'll order a little extra from timberline for me.

If you wont be there to receive the crix when you order online, do you have a friend or someone that can receive them for you? When I ordered my plants online for my chameleon, I just had them shipped to my grandpa, who was home, then billed to me, and when you get home you can get the crix. They can just leave them in the container they're received them, they'll be fine until you get home. I'm sure you have someone that could do that. Or if you don't, leave a note on the front door for the delivery guy and ask to leave on the side of the house or something, make a little covered area where the temp stays constant, I've done that too, good luck.
