shedding question, plz answer me!

nikki_c Aug 15, 2003 10:27 PM

This is the second time I have posted this and some help will really be appreciated! If anyone remembers, my mali Kashka has had major shed problems since I got him. Well, we are still working on it, but now his tail is shedding? And it comes off in strips and there are no "spikes" underneath, just semi smooth skin. Is this normal or not? Thanks for what you can tell me.

my uros tails shed in strips as well. as far as there being no spikes underneath, i have no idea what that means.

If you are saying that the spikes on the tail are absent when your animal sheds, that would not be "normal". The new skin should appear just like the old skin except, for lack of a better term, "Newer".

Okay, well he has no spikes underneath, but there seems to be nothing I can do because his tail IS shedding, so... And a herp vet is out of the question cuz I live "out in the sticks". Know what I could do, or should I just let nature take it's course and see what happens? Thanks again.
