Caught this one swimming in my pool tonight...looked like it was trying to get out but couldnt, seemed like a really good swimmer...wonder how the snakes like Chlorine??? Let this one go behind the fence.

That's a Garter Snake. You said in you're previous post that you live in the Central Valley north of Sacramento, so I would guess it's a Valley Garter Snake.
doesn't have the red that valley garters have...I'm leaning more towards western terrestrial. Nice looking snake!
Yep, I just took a little refresher course on California Garters and I'd say that's right, Western Terrestrial.
