not hatching fertile eggs

beachbeardies May 29, 2007 01:58 AM

ok in the past every clutch of fertile eggs my females have laid i have hatched out. now its getting to the point where i want one clutch from one pair and thats it, but the female will lay up to 5 as we all know. my question is whats the best way, and humane way to do away with fertile eggs, to make them not hatch? i dont want to just toss them in the trash cause they could keep at a temp where they may still hatch. freezing them? or puncturing the egg? any suggestions are appreciated

I freeze mine right after they are laid. I figure the baby inside is not developed enough to get any discomfort from this and I agree it would be worse if they hatched in a landfill somewhere.

i freeze mine and then bring them to the reptile store. The guy there will feed them to his monitors....they love them.
