Couldn't have turned out any better.

I have a bunch of pics to show of my first Cinnamon Pastel clutch ever. The last one left his egg this morning around 8:00. It took a full day for all 5 to come completely out. I ended up with 4 cinnies and 1 normal, as first expected. 2.0 cinnies, 0.2 cinnies, and 0.1 normal. The 2 males are the best looking, with awesome black backs. Which is exactly what I needed because I'm hoping to prove the mother's perfect black back pattern as simple recessive next season.

The father also had a black back pattern of his own, so it can't be scontributed completely to the mother. I think she had nothing to do with it, and her secrets lie deeper than co-dominance These are BHB line and pretty much my most anticipated clutch of the season. I have 4 more clutches to go. The next one won't be hatching until mid-July, but this one is the special one. Anyway, just for some background, here are the mother, father, and father breeding the female who laid the next clutch set to hatch.

Random hatching pics taken yesterday.

More of the hatching/washing process.

More.

Last one. Here are the 2 males. Hopefully to become breeders in time for next season. Also, each baby weighed 85-90 grams. They all have great coloration, flames, and blushing just like the father. Thanks for looking.

Awesome cinnies, mom and pop look great too. Last picture of the males, that total black back baby has got to be a keeper !!!! Hell of a clutch, good luck with the rest of the season....

Wow Ryan! Awesome little cinnies. Didn't you trade off the sire for a mojave? It is a good thing you got some keepers! How many more cinny clutches this season?

Yeah I did trade the sire for a Mojave. I figured I would have plenty of his boys to take his place next year, and I was definitely right. Figured I might as well let someone else use his good genes. I got an amazing Mojave too. So next year I'll have plenty of those to make plans with. I just took some pics of him earlier. I'll get them posted tomorrow, as soon as I have a chance after work and school. Thanks. Ryan.

I agree. Take it easy.

I love the male in the last pic on the top. Great looking babies. Are you holding them all back? What line are they from? Again congrats on your first cinny clutch

Congrats Ryan I can't wait till more things around here start getting close, well closer to hatching. As if waiting for the eggs to drop wasn't bad enough, its waiting to see what pops out for you that can be killer.

Those babies look great though, and so does mommy

Yeah, she does. I'm glad she turned out to be a female. She'll be held back too, along with the others. Hopefully she'll grow into a big het for genetic black back By the way, I was checking out your site the other day. It looks really good. Good luck with those clutches you have incubating.

JenHarrison May 29, 2007 10:01 PM

*gasp* You just dashed my hopes for getting one of those hotties from you.

Thanks for the comments on the site, I'd still like to change a few things but I haven't figured out exactly what I want yet. But it was about time I got it up and running!

RyanT May 29, 2007 11:32 PM

Hey Jen. Well, I do have 4 more clutches coming that were sired by the same male. A couple of the other females have some really great features too. I really hope these ones are taking after their father though, and I end up with a bunch more of those "hotties". Haha. Believe me, I want that female black back to be nothing short of recessive, and who knows, maybe something else. It's a pipe dream for now, but we'll see what happens next year. Anything seems to be possible with these snakes.

JenHarrison May 30, 2007 12:09 AM

She's a gorgeous girl, even if she wasn't genetic she'd be a treasure to have in any collection. "Normal" females aren't just normal for me, I hold out for the nicest ones.

I know you'll keep us posted on the other clutches too, so I'll be watching!

Hey, I was waiting for you to jump in on that question the other day about "Why are my maternally incubating eggs wrinkling"? The majority of the knowledge I can recall about maternally incubated eggs comes from yours last year. Anway, can't sign you up for one of these girls. They're all staying right here. Aside from trying to figure out what's going on with that black back female being my most intriguing project next year, I want some major super cinnies in 2010 Need females for that. I guess that's not set in stone though. I do still have 30 more eggs to hatch. I'll probably end up letting go of a couple females eventually. You have a male cinny right? Could always make your own like I'm doing. I wish I would have had time to make my own female pastels. That's what I need the most now.
