quarentine/photoperiod

MarkyV May 21, 2003 05:14 PM

Hey everybody!

ia m looking to buy some froglets( D.azureus), when i buy them i wanted to subject them to at least a three week quarentine period. I have read that a good way to quarentine the frogs is seperatley in shoe boxes with wet(distilled spring water) unbleached paper towl and hide box. Is this true? and also if the shoe boxes have covers on them how would a photoperiod be administered? and is it neccesary?
thanks in advance

I use the clear and deeper "critter-keepers" with the vents covered with plastic wrap, only because of a prior experience of frog escape when I opened a more shallow shoe box without being able to see inside first. I also like being able to oberve them without opening the container at all, but I'm the one who wants the brighter light here, not the frog. At this point, your frogs need humidity, close observation and care. Even through the more translucent sides of a shoe box, they are getting a photo period of sorts. It isn't totally dark in there. They just don't need a lot of light especially during nursery raising and quarantine. Most of the lighting technicalities everyone discusses are for the plants that people are growing for their final vivarium habitats.
