Buying new leo soon... check list

msaomaha Aug 15, 2003 11:30 PM

I am looking to buy my first leo soon, and am looking at many different peoples leo setups. I already have a 20 gallon aquarium, but not sure what furnishings I should buy (I'm trying to keep the setup low budget). I know everyone has different preferences for what lighting, hides, etc. to use, but just want a few people to give me ideas for what has worked for them.

thanks for all posts

dry hide - cheap plastic bowl, with "door" cut into it and turned upside down
water/food bowls - old plastic mealworm cup
substrate - paper towels
humid hide - cheap disposable tupper ware with hole cut in lid and moist vermiculite inside.
heating - UTH

The plastic is so much easier to clean but if you want a more natural look you could go to a grocery store and buy a coconut ($1) cut it down the side, cut in a door and get two hides It looks great and the inside is smooth, also you could use slate as the substrate (@home depot for ~$1 a 12x12" piece). On heating the UTH is more important & get a thermostat (or rheostat)
